We can hardly believe it, but the year is coming to an end. Between wrapping things up at work and getting home to spend time with friends and family, the holidays can be a hectic time for everyone — but we wanted to take a moment to look back on some of this year’s biggest accomplishments. For our team at Baker Furnace, 2016 was filled with excitement, as we launched three new products and continued to support the ever-evolving manufacturing industry.
In February, we kicked off the year with two of the biggest Southern California heat-treating events: The Advanced Manufacturing Expo & Conference and AeroDef 2016. Our team got the chance to see demonstrations of cutting-edge technology, participate in open discussions on product design and market access, and hear keynote addresses from some of the industry’s brightest minds.
Feeling inspired and ready to make strides of our own, we went on to design three different custom-made systems for our customers. In April, we crafted a 35-foot-long, 2200 °F nitrogen conveyor oven for an aquatic heating application. Over the summer, we shipped a hydraulically tilted crucible furnace to Bulgaria to melt aluminum for the European auto industry. Finally, in October, we created an electric oxidizing oven for heat treating Inconel support trays in the nuclear energy industry. By constructing these systems modularly, we were able to complete all of our testing on-site, and then easily break the systems down to send off to our customers.
We also supported a number of initiatives this year focused on advancing the manufacturing industry. On National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) in October, we promoted the importance of STEM education in schools and explored how the industry can change its outdated reputation. Last month, we celebrated American Made Matters® Day, which aims to educate the public about the importance of buying American and supporting the U.S. economy.
We’re so proud of all our team has done to serve our customers and support American manufacturing in 2016, and we look forward to continuing to do so next year — and many more to come. From all of us at Baker Furnace, happy holidays and have a happy, healthy new year!
